Senior Computer Operator
Reporting to the NOC Manager, the Computer Operator works as a part of a multi-shift environment, supporting 7x24x365 Global Operations. The successful candidate will work independently, performing duties including Incident Management, working on the batch cycle via Tivoli Work Scheduler, monitoring systems, performing backups and restores of files and files systems on Solaris and Windows operating systems and working within our Service-Now ticketing system. It is critical for the candidate to be a self learner and be able to work based on learning from our documentation. The candidate will have a proven track record demonstrating progress and responsibility in their career, excellent verbal and written communication skills, flexibility to work night shifts including weekends in multiple locations, and the ability to work as part of a team. Location: Marlborough and Windsor on occasion Shift will be 4 ten hour days (M, T, W, F from 7:45am 6:15 pm) Working Knowledge of - Cluster management software (such as Veritas Cluster Service or VMWare) is preferred but not required - Knowledge of Unix/Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems Ability to - Create a well written email to communicate to our customers as needed - Document our Morning Operations Meeting daily updates and input the information to our Service-Now ticketing system - Add critical thinking to help analyze our Major Incidents for trends and provide reports for upper management as defined by the NOC Manager - Multi-task several mission critical tasks with little supervision - Understand our strategic direction to help communicate it as needed - Review our project dashboard to confirm that we have the correct items to drive our strategic vision - Review our procedures to confirm they are properly documented so all Operators can perform them in a repeatable manner - Provide over sight to new Operation implementations as needed - Will require working DR weekends in Marlborough or Windsor once per quarter Keys to the Positions: 5+ Years experience as a Computer Operator Strong written and verbal communication skills are required - Participate in group meetings and Incident Management scenarios - Provide examples of how you have promoted positive change for an Operations function Flexibility in working hours is required. This is a day shift position - Shift will be 4 ten hour days (M, T, W, F from 7:45am 6:15 pm) Experience with: - Scheduling systems -Tivoli Work Scheduler (TWS) Maestro Job Scheduler or equivalent is a MUST - Backup and Recovery software (such as CommVault or NetBackup) - Systems Monitoring (such as BMC Patrol) - ITIL based Incident Management Ticketing system Preferred skills: VMWare.
