Macro to Post data from an Excel Sheet to a Web form - HTML VBA
We need a macro written that will complete our shipping on certain orders, a task currently done one at a time via completing fields on a web form. This shipping service has no bulk processing feature, API or XML link, so we need to accomplish the task via your macro. We will provide a sample spreadsheet that has the orders for the day, plus the various page views for the shipping service website so that you can locate the boxes that need to be filled and the buttons that need to be clicked. Your tool will take the data from the spreadsheet for the shipment, enter it into the web form, click to purchase the shipping label, print off the label, and then log the tracking number back to the spreadsheet. Then repeat the process for the rest of the orders. The entire process should be unattended. You won't need to worry about security or account information because our shipping clerk will login manually before executing your macro. ------------------------------------------ Added 10 AUG 2012, 17:50 PM EDT UPDATE: Thank you to the people that have applied - particularly those that sent a sample. I appreciate the extra effort. Some clarifications: - We use a PC environment and are standardized on MS Office 2003 and a mix of XP and Windows 7 workstations. Firefox is our browser of choice. Some people have sent Excel 2007 Macros. We own Excel 2007 but would prefer not to use it. - Ideally, your solution will work as an executable program that runs on an unattended work station and does the following First step: User manually logs in on a workstation to bypass security on the shipping website using the Firefox Browser. This way no login information needs to be built in to your program. a)Upon execution of your program from a workstation, loads a user specified CSV file containing the day's orders & shipping data. The data will always be in the same location on the server, but the file name will change. b)One at a time, duplicates the human process of entering name, address, weight, etc. in the web form. Presses "click" to process the shipment and print the shipping label. c) records the tracking number returned on the shipping website and enters it in the CSV. d) repeat with the rest of the orders. You likely should build in a processing "lag" to ensure web pages are fully loaded before moving on, plus an error check in case the shipment does not complete successfully. e) when the orders are complete, save the CSV and close the browser, and send an email to the shipper informing him processing is complete. Important: For security reasons, I cannot specify the shipping website until the contract is awarded. Further, we will need to be able to open and examine your program code to ensure that there are no accidental security risks included. After the contract winner has been chosen, we will give you the opportunity to decline the job should an unexpected difficulty arise related to our shipping website . But there should be no problems - the site is very basic once the login has been completed. Desired Skills: HTML VBA Keywords: Other IT & Programming, HTML, VBA
