An exciting opportunity has opened up for people who are interested and have experience in working within the fields of human rights, and/or health and social care. Gargar Foundation for Development is looking to recruit volunteers for a project on safeguarding the rights of women and children and improving their health and well being within BME communities in particular East African communities. There will be a series of 3 workshops which will run over the course of 3 months starting in September 2012. Volunteers will have a 2 day training sessions, one which will be a practical workshop where you and other volunteers will run through the workshop process, this will take place before the start of the first workshop in September. You will be working with other volunteers to ensure that each session runs smoothly and on time, and will assist each other in leading the course. This will also be a fantastic opportunity to learn more about health and well being and safeguarding rights, and will give you insight into community work. Through this, you will develop many skills and will be able to enhance your CV. Travel and lunch expenses will be reimbursed so please bring your receipts with you to each session. We need volunteers who have some knowledge,experience or background in the following: - health and social care. - Or human rights - Or international law Preferred but not essential: - Outreach work with BME communities - Previous experience in workshops - Understanding of East African culture and lifestyle - Can communicate in EA languages such as Somali, Arabic, Amharic and Swahili.
