Embedded Software Engineer 6 month contract Birmingham £TBC My client is a leading supplier of quality telecommunications services and products. The company operate a modern, high-capacity manufacturing facility as well as product design and development functions. Telecommunications services include first-class installation, maintenance, network operation, support and civil engineering capabilities. Main Purpose of Job The role is with the Embedded Software Team in the Engineering Department and reports to the Software Team Lead. The role involves the following key responsibilities: • Development of embedded software for telecommunications equipment. • Liasing with development partners. • Assisting the team working on related areas. • Production of design documentation. Experience / Qualifications Required Desirable • Embedded system development. • Working in an ISO9000 / TL9000 environment. • Object Oriented development using UML tools. • Telecommunications - IP, ATM, DSL. • C++/C programming. • Design, Implement and Test • Working to aggressive timescales • Agile SCRUM projects • Embedded Linux. • ClearCase. • Datacommunications, TCP/IP, SNMP • Cisco configuration • Scripting languages, Perl, Expect, Shell Role Profile The successful individual will ideally be qualified to at least degree level in a related engineering or computing subject, and have proven experience in a telecommunications or related industry. The individual must be able to work on their own initiative and in a proactive manner. The role will be to work within an extremely fast paced environment and successful candidates need to be able to work to aggressive time-scales, in a pressurised and commercially focused environment. The ability to work with multi-disciplined teams both internally and externally is also required
