Business Technical Analyst The following are primary objectives for this role. These may be expanded or retracted as determined by the Engagement Manager.: The positions responsibilities include: • Prepare ad hoc data extractions, reports, and analysis summaries. Serve as a liaison between the business and I/T organizations. Deliver data to internal US departments as required; analyze information requests and deliver accurate and timely data to requesting users. Interface with the other I/T and business groups. • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the needs of the business group from the business and technical perspective. Working closely with clients to capture business requirements and seeing them through implementation. Work with the technical leads from design through implementation. • Responsible for leading and coordinating efforts to analyze, design, code, test and implement new project areas and enhancements to existing project areas within the platform. Create/update documents required as part of the system development lifecycle (e.g. requirements specifications, test plans, statements of work, functional design, use case and process documents). Assist with documenting the project plans including communication, training, and deployment. • Develop and execute test plans for Unit, System and User Acceptance testing of business functionality. • Building formidable relationships with more junior teammates in an effort mentor their development. • Provide critical care support to newly implemented enhancements. Also, assist, as needed, with escalated application production support issues. This includes: identification and resolution of data discrepancies and availability; explanation of functionality; escalation to development and global teams for Microstrategy, database and ETL related issues. Required Experience: • Held a previous role as a Business Analyst / Business Technical Analyst • Complex SQL writing required for Data Analysis • 6+ years of leading software lifecycle development • 8+ years of technology experience • Business Intelligence tools (preferable Microstrategy) / Decision Support systems • Advanced testing background with a high attention to detail • Data Modeling, Process Mapping, Workflow Analysis and Design tools • Office Productivity Tools: Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Access Required Skills: • Curiosity to know the “why” behind the data, technology and the business • Comfortable working independently or leading others; discerning when issues and concerns should be presented to the Project Manager • Delivers quality work and solutions on time, on budget and in a team environment that builds trust and respect among I/T team members and clients • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation skills) that build trusting partnerships with team mates and managers, business clients, Global team members, and other technology resources. Communications must include risk assessment and deliverable status • Negotiation and issue resolution skills • Ability to grasp technical concepts quickly and a solid ability to translate technical verbiage into easily understandable language • Have the highest degree of professionalism when working with business clients Preferred Experience: • Understanding of Business metrics • Understanding of Marketing concepts a plus • Experience with Microstrategy, DataStageTX, DataStage and/or Teradata environment is preferred. • Business Analysis Certification (IIBA CBAP) a plus Education: • BS in Finance or Computer Science preferred Synectics is committed to aligning talented professionals with jobs they find challenging and fulfilling.
