1768-1 Desktop Support Specialist Location: Carlsbad, CA Length: 6 Months If interested, please send resume to email@example.com Description: Technician need to be available to travel to the plants in the West Coast Region. This position assists staff with technical support of desktop computers (hardware), applications (software), and related technology. Support includes specification, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines. Activities require interaction with application software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique, non-recurring problems. The position utilizes one-on-one consultancy to end users and Corporate Infrastructure Team (server and network). The position’s responsibilities require independent analyses, communication and problem solving. Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative and judgment. Technician will need to be available 24/7 for emergencies. Duties of the Job: 1. Assisting office workers with their computer desktop systems (on site and remotely via phone and desktop remote control software) 2. Providing computer support services both for software and hardware for an organization’s employees 3. Testing of computers and ensuring that computer systems are functioning properly. 4. Physical setting up of computers and software system installation for various computer applications and programs 5. Identifying and solving any problems that affect computer operating system and or software 6. Discussing with individual staff members who work on the computers what the problems is in order to figure out how to help solve the problem. Individual assessments of computer systems to identify the problem(s) 7. Maintenance and upgrading of computer systems 8. Training staff and orienting them on how to use computer hardware and software systems 9. Carrying out other duties as you may be requested by IT management 10. Assist IT Infrastructure, Telecommunications, Networking and Security Teams at remote sites with installation, configuration and troubleshooting when needed. 11. Maintaining other computer peripheral devices such as printers and solving printing problems if they arise 12. Responsible for office moves, new hire placement, reconfiguring of existing infrastructure (cabling, network drops, phone systems moves, etc) 13. Assists with coordination and construction of conferencing spaces and office / room additions 14. Project planning and implementation of high profile projects affecting Plant production support Requirements: Candidates qualifying for this position will have • Technical certification (MCP, etc) and/or 2/4 -year college degree in Information Technology field • Possess 5+ years of Desktop Support experience with MS products (WIN XP, Windows 7, and Office 2003/2007/2010). • Be able to work safely in a Plant environment and follow all safety regulations Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Windows OS (servers and workstations) • MS Office and Other office automated software • Active Directory • Hardware Troubleshooting • System Backup Procedures • Basic knowledge of wiring and other networking essentials • Email configuration and functionality • Knowledge of the following will be a plus o Altiris Computer management system o PI and DCS systems o HP Printer Certification o Blackberry activation and troubleshooting Keywords: Information Technology
