UNIX & Linux Server Administrator
Currently looking for a skilled UNIX & Linux Server Administrator to be brought on for a 7 Month Contract Opportunity Please read job description below. Provide operational support for UNIX & Linux Server technologies across global enterprise, including hands on experience with the following Server Technologies: Solaris Hardware/Operating Systems (versions 8, 9, 10) Red Hat Operating Systems (versions 4, 5) Storage technologies (EMC, Volume Manager, Disk Suite, LVM, NFS) HP/Dell server technologies High Availability Clustering Technologies including Veritas Clustering Services Server Virtualization Technologies across Linux, and Solaris Operating Systems Remote Server Management Technologies High Availability Solutions including Replication, Load Balancing, Disaster Recovery Tools ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Conduct operating system, hardware review, validation, performance tuning, and configuration management in support of UNIX and Linux services, standards, procedures and best practices Support the incident management process as a Tier 2 [on-call] Support Engineer for business applications & infrastructure applications Conduct problem management process (root cause analysis) to determine the real or underlying cause of an incident in order to prevent future recurrences Comply with Service Management Processes such as incident, problem, change and IT asset management. Interact directly with internal customers and end users; coordinate activities of cross-functional teams, including development, application and data base operations, infrastructure engineering and solutions engineering. Help to develop and document standard operating procedures and best practices in our technical repository. Has the ability to identify gaps and proactively improve system inefficiencies. Ability to self-manage time and multiple constraints in a rapidly changing, high-pressure and complex technical environment KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 5+ years of server administration experience in the Information Technology industry Strong analytical focus, results-oriented and execution driven Expert level problem solving and root cause analysis skills, with the ability to identify learning opportunities, improve current processes Required basic written and verbal communication skills o Added plus, ability to effectively interface with technical and non-technical staff at all levels of the organization Proven ability to resolve complex user/systems issues effectively Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative global environment Experience directly interfacing with 3rd party support vendors
