3D Visual Artist III
TAD PGS, INC. is currently seeking a 3D Visual Artist III for one of our clients in Washington, DC. Summary: Under the broad direction of a lead artist, applies expert understanding of concepts, practices and procedures of 3D multimedia to create the visual elements used in electronic games, websites and/or software products. Works on the development of a broad spectrum of 3D multimedia projects focused on radical, innovative, and/or experimental approaches to training and education in medicine. Responsibilities: Works with the Team Lead and Project Managers to understand deliverables and define the project plan; as necessary, communicates between the development team and the business team about technical issues/limitations and determines alternative solutions. Designs complex multimedia educational games aimed at training medical staff. Develops 3D simulation content for medical education. Develops content accessible on mobile devices. Develops 3D visualization for use in the developed 3D simulations. Communicates proposed visual elements during pre-production phase of game development with the use of concept art and story boards. Creates 3D character modeling, texture-map creation-and-application, animation, rigging, and weighting. Drafts character and story images with application of highly developed artistic skill, knowledge of mechanical and anatomical movement, architecture and feature representation. Demonstrates appropriate usage of color, composition, perspective, and mood through look, expression and emotion on people, places and things. Responsible to model texture, lighting, and polish artistic effects in art assets that reflect and enhance the project’s concept, designs and game play. May serve as rotating team lead and/or subject matter expert on technical issues. Works closely with the programming team to integrate cross-technology project needs. Evaluates other games in the industry and produces a comparative report. Creates and manages the art production that conforms to the technical guidelines of the target platform. Mentors more junior artists and helps to guide their development. Introduces technological innovations to the team. Education: Master’s degree in digital arts or an equivalent discipline with significant coursework in computer design, technical drawing, and/or animation is required. Experience: Five to seven years of progressively more responsible job related experience in the design and development of multimedia / 3D games and or educational projects which, technologically, are transferable to the education and training of medical staff. Experience with art-game engine integration is required.
