SQL 2008 Database Cluster   CSF Technologies is seeking a SQL 2008 DBA for a Cambridge , MA client.The first phase of this project will be for two months with the possibility of an extension. The consultant will participate in the design and implementation of a multi-server cluster supporting 12 to 14 databases currently residing on individual Windows servers.The consultant will also perform a review of an existing cluster of two servers supporting the SharePoint implementation, and make appropriate recommendations for any possible improvements.   Qualifications : ·          The consultant will be an expert in SQL Server 2008 R2. ·          The consultant will have ample experience setting up Windows Server 2008 R2 clusters spe cifically for SQL Server 2008 R2. ·          The consultant must have past experience setting up and configuring a SQL 2008 R2 database cluster specifically optimized for Microsoft SharePoint server 2010. ·          The consultant will have past experience configuring and optimizing back-end storage for a SQL 2008 R2 cluster, preferably a Dell Equal L ogic PS6010xv or any similar iSCISI-based SAN.   Responsibilities :   ·          Leveraging accepted best practices the consultant will provide direction and guidance to th e a dministrator in installing, configuring, and maintaining a 2008 R2 SQL Database cluster.   This includes but is not limited to providing analysis and making recommendations in the following areas: o        P roper SAN and shared disk configuration based on the hardware on hand. o        O ptimiz ing SQL server 2008 R2’s engine, memory allocation and other settings to properly tune SQL Server performance. o        Developing SQL server 2008 R2 maintenance plans which will optimize the S QL databases performance. o        P rocesses for applying patches (security or SQL S erver 2008 R2 SP or CU) to the SQL server 2008 R2 cluster. ·          Adhering to the client’s standards for documentation and configuration management , the consultant will ensure that the entire installation and configuration process is documented.
