Essential Functions / Responsibilities: • Design and implement Object-Oriented software solutions for a Train Dispatching/Traffic Control System • Proven ability to understand existing system and design new functionality • Take an active role in team meetings involving architecture, design, development, and troubleshooting test issues or customer issues • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements • Demonstrate proven ability to understand a legacy system and design new functionality • Participate as a reviewer in technical and program reviews • Ability to communicate directly with customers and provide support • Work with a field support team to diagnose customer issues and quickly resolve issues • Define and execute unit, sub-system, and system tests to validate system behavior • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements as well as perform system testing • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures Basic Qualifications / Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other degree • Minimum 5 years of Software Development experience • Minimum 3 years of Windows VC++/C#/.Net/XML Messaging Development experience • Minimum 1 year development experience in SQL development using Microsoft SQL server • Experience working with a client server architecture • Working knowledge in configuration management and defect tracking tools • Some travel may be required to handle field issues or install new software Desired Qualifications: • Strong oral and written communication skills • Strong background in Object Oriented Design • Knowledge of MS Visual Studio integrated development environment • Understanding and translating customer requirements to software solutions • Experience in internationalization of applications • Experience in working with COM ports and serial data • Experience in using Relational Database experience • Basic networking understanding • Experience with ClearCase Software Configuration Management and ClearQuest Defect Tracking 8 month contract Pay - $47.93/hr – straight time pay for OT hours.
