Our Fairfax, Virginia client is seeking a candidate to be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database which are likely to include planning, development and troubleshooting. Responsibilities: Monitors user access and security Monitors performance and manages parameters to provide fast query responses to front end users Installs and tests new versions of the database management system Writes database documentation, including procedures for standard tasks (e.g., database refreshes, creating users, and installing new versions of database) Controls access permissions and privileges Develops, manages and tests backup and recovery plans Ensures that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly Debugging and troubleshooting issues in production and non-production environments As the successful applicant, you will possess the following requirements: Oracle 11G experience Linux/Unix experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent Five to seven years of related experience or an MBA Ability to work on computer for long periods Ability to communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face Some travel may be required Desirable, additional qualifications: Shell scripting DataGuard Kerberos SQL Server RMAN OEM TOAD SQL development SQL scripting (including creation of queries, tables, triggers, stored procedures, functions)
