Senior Splunk Consultant
Our client, a Fortune 100 company and leader in the financial industry, is looking for multiple Senior Splunk Consultants. Job Description: The Senior Splunk Consultants will be responsible for analyzing various systems during a crisis (Severity 1 and 2) and driving resolutions. Drive the adoption of various enterprise tools (specifically Splunk) for the existing subject matter experts (SMEs) and remediation teams, mentoring those teams until self sufficiency is reached. Maintain those enterprise tools, while continuously utilizing data to drive actions, changes and recommendations. Differentiate the root cause from the symptoms of the issue. Frequently serve as a member of a triage team, ensuring the appropriate SMEs (e.g. network, SAN, vendor) are engaged when appropriate and those SMEs also use data to justify recommendations. Prioritize conflicting recommendations into defensible plans which guide the recovery efforts and more strategic fixes in the best possible order. Perform knowledge transfer with other SMEs and mentor those individuals to become fully seasoned and proficient technical re sources. Work collaboratively to ensure all critical needs are fulfilled. Essential Skills: Hands-on experience across multiple disciplines is required, including expertise in at least 1 or more of these technologies: UNIX and Wintel servers, databases (Oracle or DB2), Web Services software, load balancing, proxy technology, DNS, SSL VPN, NTP, cloud/grid computing, Java application software and IP traffic analysis. Operational experience with the aforementioned skills in the leadership of technical triage calls is also required, as well as experience in Splunk (or similar log file analysis tools). Experience in data analysis and capacity and performance management is essential, in addition to solid scripting (i.e. regular expressions) and listening skills. Desired Skills: 10+ years of hands-on technical experience within a heterogeneous computing environment supporting business critical infrastructure routing functions is preferred.
