Under the leadership of the Manager, Project Management Office, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning and managing various projects and related activities using standard project management methodologies and tools. The Senior Project Manager may be assigned to cross-functional, high complexity projects or to projects where initial requirements are not well understood. They will also mentor and guide other team members and may serve as a back-up to the Team Leader. Responsibilities: * Collaborate with project team to develop project schedules and work plans using standard project management tools and methods * Manage project scope and ensure project tasks/deliverables are completed according to specifications and on time; identify and communicate issues to management and sponsors in a timely manner * Proactively manage changes in scope through formal change control methods * Proactively identify project risks and work with stakeholders to mitigate them * Conducts regular project team meetings and produces timely project artifacts (i.e., project charter, project plan schedule, team action items, team risks/issues log, team status reporting, etc.) * Manage customer relations by fostering productive and effective relationships with business users * Collaborate with project stakeholders and sponsors to define project success criteria and metrics * Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving by using appropriate information to diagnose project problems and identify possible solutions; document pros and cons of proposed solutions * Manage multiple complex projects * Perform analysis, gather and document requirements * Support management in recommending process enhancements and analyze new procedures to enhance efficiency * Mentor and coach other Project Managers. Share best practices with team members * Assist in the prioritization of projects by providing reliable work schedules and time estimates * Participate and lead staff Required Experience: * Minimum 7-10 years' experience managing large projects in a healthcare setting * Project management certification (PMP) highly desired * Demonstrated knowledge of structured development processes and lifecycle * Technical project management and documentation methods required * Demonstrated proficiency in applying project management methodology to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget * Strong analytical and problem solving skills * Excellent oral and written communication skills with proven experience presenting project information to representatives from all levels of the organization * Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, prioritize multiple tasks, problem solve under pressure of deadlines and resource constraints * Demonstrate ability to work on multiple and complex projects or perform more than one function on a given project (e.g., project manager and business analyst) * Demonstrate the ability to gather business requirements * In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Project and related MS Office tools required * Knowledge of Microsoft Project Server highly desired
