Computer Operator - Media Management Tape Librarian

If you think you are qualified, send your resume directly to aanchal@gbcs-usa.com Media Management Tape Librarian roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Preparing the daily shift turnover • Reviewing current day scratch list. • Physically inspecting and preparing the daily job/run distributed media • Performing daily media capacity analysis. • Replacing any/all damaged daily media. • Performing daily tape ejects to increase current day processing capacity • Coordinate with Technical Support the distributed job scheduling and shift turnover. • Monitoring of tape related console messages, responding when necessary. • Performing daily periodic physical inspections of distributed systems’ status. • Responding to automated trouble tickets and performing level 1, 2, and 3 break/fix activity for trouble related hardware and software. • Monitoring and responding to all VSM silo activities and/or issues. • Physically managing, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting all North American Data Center tape drives. • Initiating, scheduling, coordinating, and approving media management sponsored change controls. • Ensuring proper change controls, and associated descriptions exist for all media management affected changes. • Managing all daily ad-hoc tape/job requests and scratch activity • Managing all physical and electronic vaulting activity • Managing all physical mail-in/out activity, both scheduled and ad-hoc. • Manage tape destruction process, insuring all proper documentation has been recorded and approved. Ensure destruction procedures are followed • Operating and maintaining IBM 6262 printers for RMM and/or any ad-hoc reports. Competencies: 1. Required skills include 1-3 years experience in an operations or media management position. 2. Candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. 3. He/she must be able to work well with others, in a team environment. 4. He/She must be able to multitask, understanding the current situation in other affected areas and how it will affect Media Management. 5. Candidate must be able to work a 3 & 1/2 day shift week 6. A basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is required. 7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. 8. Logical problem solving techniques and associated experience in operations and media management is a plus. 9.
