Additional responsibilities include assisting with other areas of group engineering and administration including storage and network administration. This position requires an individual who can successfully manage the long-term and day-to-day engineering, security, administrative, monitoring, and performance tuning responsibilities for the UNIX / Linux team in a complex, dynamic, distributed team oriented environment with minimal supervision. Collaborate with peers and consultants build a multi-year strategic plan and budget.  Instill common and advanced security principles throughout all aspects of design and administration. Audit as appropriate.  React quickly to any operational issues that may affect company objectives and align resources to resolve issues. Lead cross functional incident management and problem management teams.  Initiate, develop, coordinate and manage multiple on-going projects and tasks maximizing the use of resources  Develop and maintain vendor and consultant relations for current and future development and support efforts  Develop standards and best practices related to network design, engineering, monitoring, testing, deployment, operations and multi-tier support  Provide on-call and after-hours support as required  Assist with other duties as assigned by the department Director PREFERRED RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS  Possess an ability and interest in leading UNIX and Linux engineering initiatives as well as providing operations support for Solaris/Linux, storage and network related tasks EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS  Degree in Computer Science or similar preferred although relevant hands-on work experience can be substituted for a degree  5+ years of relevant work experience is required in building high performing, resilient storage environments  Relevant certifications appreciated but not required.
