This role will be responsible for ensuring that this strategy can meet the business function objectives established by the account team. The successful incumbent will lead the development, implementation, and management of an Architecture Strategy covering capabilities that are relevant to their business function. The incumbent will work directly with US IS Client Engagement, Solution Delivery, and Enterprise architecture teams to influence and ensure that application, technical, and information strategies are aligned to the strategic objective of the business. This architect will be accountable for the management of architecture resources (internal, external, local, region, and global) to execute and implement the technical components that align to the strategy as well as the business program requirements. The incumbent will also engage Global Solutions Architecture and Enterprise Architecture leadership, as well, to provide strategic direction and oversight to those global programs that might impact and or benefit strategies. The incumbent will actively participate in the global architecture community to leverage and influence architecture standards, capabilities, best practices and strategies. Major Responsibilities Proactively evaluate market trends (industry/technical), research, and influence the introduction technology solutions to deliver competitive advantage. o Develop and Own Technology Strategies that align or accelerate business strategies. o Proactively identify ways for IS to gain business leader commitment to IS initiatives, using specialist knowledge to market established, changed or new IS services. o Proactively identify opportunities through internal and external networks, for IS to deliver innovative solutions to customer issues/challenges and situations where leading edge technological innovations can be deployed to business advantage. o Promote and Influence the adoption of technology strategies and solutions with IS and Business stakeholders. Architect is accountable (take ownership) for strategy (technical or business) through implementation. o Create Strategy, Business Benefits, Blueprints, Roadmap, Design Patterns, Best Practices, SLA’s, Support procedures. o Translate and Communicate strategy and technology solutions into business outcome/value. o Influence IS and Business support, funding, and implementation. (Account Teams, US Business, TSD, CSD, AD/AM vendors) o Communicate, Educate, and influence adoption from IS community on strategy, capability, design patterns, best practices and implementation efforts. o Translate implementation and utilization of strategy/technology into business outcomes and value for US Business and IS community. o Accountable for the oversight and successful execution of architecture with in local, regional, and global programs/projects. o Collaborate & Partner with TSD/CSD/EIS and external to ensure the successful introduction and support of solutions and foundational capabilities. Research Market Trends and Technology through external parties and vendors to promote innovation. o Develop External Network to gain visibility to emerging technologies and innovations. o Conduct POC’s to validate the feasibility and functionality of business and technical solutions. o Sponsor, Schedule, and Conduct Snack and Learns to educate IS and business on existing/new solutions. o Evangelize Technology Strategies, Proof-of-Concepts, and Implementations to drive adoption by IS and the business. o Drive the Introduction, Evolution, and Adoption of solutions into the Organization o Influence the exportation/importation of solutions to/from other markets to promote re-use, and cost reductions. Accountable for ensuring end-to-end Service Levels (Application, Infrastructure) are designed into the delivery of platforms and business solutions. o Define proactive monitoring and solution health monitoring requirements to ensure solution and/or platform reliability. o Define performance, fault-tolerance, high availability, and disaster recovery requirements for business and platform solutions. o Accountable for influencing, overseeing, and validating the implementation of service level requirements. Regulatory Awareness (where applicable): Expert understanding of SET IS regulatory requirements, IS SOPs and Validation SOPs. Identifies regulatory risks related to architectural components and develops mitigation strategies. Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) / Validation: Has expert knowledge of the system development life cycle. Leads efforts in SDLC compliance and optimization. Understands relationship between SDLC and other management frameworks. . Interpersonal Skills: Active communicator with excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills. Solicits opinions and feedback from others. Ability to communicate with C level business owners and IS owners to affect strategic portfolio outcomes. Communicates abstract concepts with clarity and precision. Delivers convincing presentations that provide significant insight and generate consensus and buy-in. Able to effectively negotiate, persuade and influence others, both within IS and in customer areas. Projects a high level of credibility and professionalism. Relationship Management: Proactively identifies opportunities to lead and influence customers, peers, team members and vendors. Recognized as a trusted and respected team member. Builds, maintains and grows key internal and external partnerships and networks. Teamwork/ Collaboration: Seeks opportunities to participate on and lead teams on a routine and regular basis. Understands team dynamics and strives to improve team effectiveness. Operates effectively on global and cross-functional teams. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Minimum 15 years cumulative experience in architecture and supporting methodologies, with at least 5 years in the domain(s) of focus A broad understanding of architecture covering all aspects from business/process, information, application to infrastructure architecture. Working knowledge of necessary business operating model components to support architecture implementation and adoption. Strong analysis, conceptual thinking and modeling capabilities. Strong relationship management, strategic influencing, and communication skills. Delivery focused and creative in finding ways of delivering across complex dependency maps. Ability and desire to work cross functionally and see this as a great opportunity. Ability to work independently across the global organization while overseeing the work of others. Preferred Background Advanced degree in relevant field Evidence of strong Life Sciences business knowledge and acumen.
