Position Summary: The Database Administrator / Analyst is responsible for leading efforts involved in development of IT systems database solutions by analyzing, designing, implementing, and maintaining Relational Database Management Systems (RDMS) environments and related infrastructures. Provides guidance to programming and infrastructure staff regarding database design and best practices for all phases of database administration. Guides others in planning, estimating, and controlling techniques for enterprise database administration. Oversees the performance of database systems and applications, which includes supporting database applications. Leads capacity planning and product evaluation activities for RDMS, which includes configuration, implementation, and support. Works with other areas within IT to define and develop and implement data security and data backup and recovery specifications. Recommends and leads efforts to improve processes and procedures. Stays current with industry best practices and shares with others. Functions as an escalation point for other resources, and coaches and mentors other resources on the techniques of application database programming / design. Uses skills and knowledge of an advanced and seasoned professional in the area of enterprise RDBMS, operating system administration, and Database Tools. Demonstrates expertise in all functions and features of MS SQL Server. Works on problems of diverse scope and high complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises exceptional judgment and creativity in selecting methods, techniques, or database tools to obtain effective solutions, while maintaining mindfulness of OMI architectural boundaries. Essential Functions: Experience working closely with applications teams to develop SQL Server databases and standards Experience working on a variety of concurrent projects as a project resource with database modeling, design, and development expertise Proven skills serving as an applications DBA in a corporate SQL Server environment Experience supporting multiple applications groups across the enterprise from a project or support perspective, including both in-house written and purchased applications Proven ability to work closely with architects and technical leads on new development work, estimations, and planning for projects Operational day to day database management skills, including troubleshooting, performance tuning (database and application), and backup / recovery planning and execution Experience with SQL Server version 2008+ in a corporate environment Demonstrated understanding of SQL Server operations in virtual environments, and using SAN. Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and troubleshoot across various applications teams, management, and project teams across the IT enterprise Data modeling experience is strongly preferred 6+ years experience as a Database Analyst in a corporate environment, using client server RDMS. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is preferred. Appropriate experience may be substituted.
