Java/COBOL Developer
Java/Cobol Programmer (Contract) We are seeking resumes for a technical expert as an object oriented java programmer. 6 month contract with strong possibilities of multiple long term extensions (many of our contractors have been onsite over 5 & 10 years!) Located in the beautiful Midtown area of Atlanta, with easy access to MARTA bus and train service, as well as all major highways. Education : 4-yr College Degree preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field. Skills Required: · HTML (JSP) · Java 1.6 (J2EE) · Web Services (Creation of Services and Clients) · Object Oriented Analysis and Design · JDBC · XML · Strong written and verbal skills · Strong interpersonal skills · Strong teamwork and customer support focus · Ability to handle numerous conflicting priorities in a professional manner · Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills on highly complex problems; technical agility Additional Skills Preferred: · Mainframe skills would be a plus to any candidate including: Cobol II, Command-level CICS, TSO/ISPF, OS/JCL, VSAM, Serena ChangeMan, Expediter · DB2 · BEA WebLogic Application Server 10g.3 · ANT · PVCS · MQ · Eclipse · Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Visio) Experience required: · 3+ years in object oriented application development The candidate will be expected to serve as a team member of the LMIS Team in a complex, critical computing environment spanning the object oriented java environment with Mainframe technologies. The work associated with this position will be divided evenly between new projects and support activities. The candidate must be well rounded, possess maturity, vision, and a depth of experience that allows for grasping of issues quickly and making educated, critical judgments/decisions in the absence of complete information. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with on-call duties as required and must possess the ability to work with a diverse, high-performance team. The candidate will be expected to interface with internal business partners, third-party suppliers/vendors, and internal IT application programmers for both new development and problem determination/resolution; assure the highest levels of stability, integrity, reliability, security, and availability of the application under his/her responsibility; adhere to the established change control policies and prescribed procedures; produce documentation and procedures as per company standards; correct reported problems with software under his/her responsibility; utilize a problem management tool to track open tickets and follow up to resolution and closure; and execute special projects or other related duties as required. The applicant will be expected to have excellent interpersonal skills for the purposes of requirements gathering and coordination with other technical teams, business partners, and third party vendors.
