Internal Communications Officer
We've just taken on a really interesting new role with a large private company in the Midlands. Steeped in history and tradition, this company are looking to bring an internal communications specialist into the team for a period of six months initially to help to modernize the comms functionality within the business. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with both head office and the local site at which you will be based. It's an environment in which internal comms has not traditionally been in the marketing mix, but because of the old traditions and practices being updated at the moment, they are working to try and change the whole culture of the business. It will be a slow process initially as the team gets used to the new approach and the comms tools you can expect to employ will, to start with, be quite basic. It's a unique opportunity to build the internal comms function for an established business, from the ground up, putting your own stamp on it. There will, in general, be a very busy period at the start of the day between 8am and 11am to get messages perfected and out to the relevant teams before shift change in the late morning. This is part of a much larger plan to improve internal comms functionality through out the rest of the business sites across the whole of the North of England so the scope for development is huge. You'll be expected to be analytical, able to communicate effectively in a non aggressive manner in an environment that can be quite emotionally charged. You'll be able to utilise both basic and more modern internal comms channels and be able to recommend to the management team any changes that you feel will help.
