Database Administration Support Kansas City, MO Permanent position CLIN 043 - Database Administration Support 2.1.1 Objective The primary objective of this Work Statement is to obtain seasoned mid-range DB2 Database Administration (DBA) support at NITC. The selected contractor will provide local and remote systems DBA support for various mid-range applications. As a secondary objective, the contractor will also be required to provide MySQL DBA support. 2.1.2 Scope of Work The contractor shall provide systems database administration support in a variety of areas including but not limited to installing, monitoring; analyzing; troubleshooting; diagnosing; tuning and maintaining DB2 and MySQL, and related database products including integration with tools or other software within the database product suite. Currently NITC supports DB2 on Windows, AIX, zLinux, VMWare, Solaris and mainframe platforms. MySQL is supported on Linux. Multiple servers will be involved. NITC generally provides full system administration support for its managed hosting customers. NITC's customers generally perform application administration, but NITC often provides support in this area as requested by customers. NITC technicians also provide customers with assistance on hardware configuration and support. NITC currently uses contractors and government support for mid-range services. NITC will require occasional after hours and weekend support to perform hardware and software maintenance on an as needed basis. 2.2 Description of Work Functions: All required services are to be provided by the contractor and will comply with applicable standards, policies, and procedures. The following category of services includes but is not limited to: - Database/Software administration services - Database/Software design and development - Database/Software maintenance - Database/Software performance evaluation and tuning Additional tasks are as follows: 1) Database Administration The NITC COTR in consultation with the DB2/MySQL contractor assigned to the project will tailor the following list of tasks to be part of the assigned work: Installation of the database software Installation of corrective service for the database software creation of the instance and/or database In conjunction with the customer, the determination will be made to provide a partitioned/clustered database 2) DB2 Administration primary role NITC requests expertise in mid-range DB2 (currently supported versions/releases) and experience using monitoring, diagnostics, and analysis tools. This person must function as a system DBA. Experience as an application developer/programmer or application DBA is beneficial. Experience with mainframe DB2 support is also beneficial. Tasks include, but are not limited to: working with metadata, retrieving XML result sets, analyzing query plans, client connectivity, configuring client/server network libraries, using extended Stored Procedures, managing indexes and locks, troubleshooting deadlocks, working with statistics, scripting, creating alerts, partitioned views, optimization, database design, database install/upgrade/configuration, schema management, performance monitoring, backup/recovery planning, SQL tuning, data replication, database reorganization, data loading, database coding/maintenance.
