Tax Assistant : World class Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire is currently looking to recruit a Tax Assistant. Please Note: you must be eligible for SC (Secret Level) Security Clearance if you�re not already cleared to that level however the company is happy to wait for the clearance to come through. The contract is initially for 3 months (ongoing after). The hourly rate is �16 per hour. Tax Assistant Job Description: Assisting the UK Tax Manager with taxation reporting requirements. o Preparation of Research & Development (R&D) Tax Credit Claims. This will involve o identification of all qualifying R&D projects including information gathering/support documentation preparation; o analysis of cost information held within SAP using excel to quantify the claim; o assessment of any qualifying MEP spend which has been consumed in the R&D process; o maintenance of backup files; and o pulling together a comprehensive final claim for review by the UK Tax Manager o General assistance to the UK Tax Manager in ensuring compliance of the company with taxation reporting requirements. This could include assisting with o the preparation of the UK Corporation Tax Computations o the completion of PAYE reporting returns Qualifications & experience required : Relevant technical/vocational qualification or equivalent experience � Good understanding of financial procedures, particularly in area of focus � General financial analysis and reporting skills � Is skilled in the use of appropriate systems, including IT � Confident and happy to engage with others in the business to obtain information � Completion of draft claim for R&D tax credits, in line with BMS 1128, for every qualifying project live in 2010 and 2011 including � Completion of tracking spreadsheet on a daily basis � Obtain from the relevant lead engineer a completed R&D tax template for each qualifying project or confirmation that project does not qualify. � Analysis of the financial spend for each qualifying project � Provision of comprehensive and referenced backup file to support the claim � Meeting any deadlines agreed with UK Tax Manager in supporting work on other compliance matters on an ad hoc basis
