Experienced Materials Buyer required ASAP to join the commercial retail team on an on going contract basis. You will be expected to manage an efficient materials purchasing system and provide support to the Construction Retail Team in achieving build programmes with the maximum efficiency. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS; • Excellent knowledge and experience of materials buying (some plant and occasional Labour) • Solid construction experience in a similar role in main contracting and ideally within the retail sector • Schedule and place material orders with suppliers where appropriate, optimising cost and quality. • Attend internal and pre-start meetings with the construction retail team • Check Architects/Engineers drawings for discrepancies and compliance with the required material specification. Thereafter resolving any queries with the relevant consultants • Produce material enquiries to suppliers for costing and production of schedules and assessing quotations and supplier's schedules to ensure they are correct. • Produce material cost schedules and budgets for new sites as required, ensure budgets are not exceeded. • Resolve invoice queries with the Accounts Department. • Ensure correct specifications are being used. • Attend site when required to ensure there are no problems with supplies / materials. • Be timely, methodical and capable of multi-tasking • Must be hard working, enthusiastic and commercially minded
