Lingual.ly - Capturing indigenous languages using mobile tablets with script, audio, video and text translation capability. Consolidating our world's lingual intelligence and offering it back for free. 1.1 Project Scope For Our Grandchildren Developments Inc. is looking to a web and mobile solution using Drupal and Sproutcore. The purpose of this solution is to provide a medium to capture and populate a database of indigenous languages throughout the world. Our mobile app developer (Appnovation) will develop a multi-platform html5 mobile application that will be optimized for iPad and Android tablet devices. The mobile application will sync with an on-line database that can be viewed through a Drupal website. 1.1a Sproutcore - HTML5 Mobile Application The mobile application will be able to create a "record" that can contain drawings (via whiteboard), audio, video, and text (in any language using an on screen keyboard). These records have select metadata attached to it. Once the record has been saved, it will be locked and cannot be modified or deleted on the mobile device. The only action that can be done to this record will to populate a searchable on-line database. This database will be synced with the record in the application via sync with WIFI or cellular network (once in a service area). 1.1ai Functionality · The data is initially stored in the mobile app and it will synched with an online database via a cellular network o The mobile app will also be able to sync via Wi-Fi in remote areas when no cellular network is available · Once a record is saved in the mobile device database, it will be locked and cannot be edited by the mobile app user. · Once the app is synced and populates record in the online database, the mobile app database will clear itself of the records that have been synced · Record Details – each record can contain: o Audio recording o Video recording o Image - (whiteboard) drawn on the touch screen o Text translation- populated by the end user with the keyboard o GPS Data – automatically captured via the mobile device (if available) o Metadata - there will be up to 4 different metadata fields that the mobile app users can population with text (examples include Tribe Name, Text Location, Person's Name, Notes) 1.1aii Mobile Experience The mobile application will be wrapped into a native iPad and Android tablet application using PhoneGap. The Appnovation design team is working work with Rain City to determine the best mobile experience for the end user during the design phase. 1.1b Drupal Website There will also be a minimalist Drupal website developed so the public can intuitively view the newly populated database of native language records. Also, the mobile application users will be able to log into the website and view the records they have submitted under their user profile. 1.1bi Functionality · Users that submit records via the mobile app can view their profile and view list of all the records they created sorted by the date created or any of the various metadata fields. · The general public will be able to view the website and search through all the records by the various metadata fields. · For both the public and mobile app users- there will be a mapping feature displayed on the website that will sync with the database of records.
