Our client located in Rancho Bernardo is looking for a Senior Java Developer/Architect to start immediately. This opportunity is contract to hire. You will become a key member of an expert team of developers, creating the next generation of client applications. Utilizing Portals, Portlets, Spring, AJAX, and other leading-edge technologies, you will design, build and test application in a new technology platform. Our goal is to build a state-of-the-art, clustered and scaleable web based application framework and technology platform based on open standards and best of breed Java technologies. JOB DESCRIPTION: Transitioning from delivering client applications as Win32 desktop applications to AJAX Web enabled Portlets. This position will be responsible for evaluating, specifying and delivering that platform and portlets. As a senior member of our development team, you will help define requirements, participate in design and implement subsystems and portlets for Teradata’s end user tools. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, creative, experienced software engineer who is ready to contribute to the success of the company as well as mentor less senior engineers. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in design and deliver a next generation client tools platform and framework Design and deliver Teradata Manager applications in Java and J2EE technologies (portlets) Utilize Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development best practices within Java practice Provide guidance and direction to junior engineers Design and develop optimized and reliable code to specification. Communicate effectively with other engineers and QA. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS   BS in Computer Science 7+ years of experience and proven track record creating and maintaining production quality J2EE Web applications in the last 8 years 4+ years of experience with Servlets/JSP, JMS, JNDI, JDBC, JTA, JAXP, Junit, and Ant in the last 6 years. 3+ years of experience with SQL 4+ years of experience with Object Oriented Programming, software development, and methodologies in the last 6 years 1+ years of experience with application design 1+ years of experience UML 2+ years developing complex UIs in JSP, JSF and Servlets, 2+ years of experience with Web UI frameworks such as Struts in the last 5 years First-rate communication skills, both verbal and written PREFERRED   Experience developing and deploying J2EE applications and portlets on application servers such as Tomcat/Liferay Experience with database applications and SQL Deep understanding of GoF and J2EE patterns. Experience with Tomcat clustering and session failover Spring MVC, Hibernate, JPA, Portlets Knowledge of Junit, TestNG, HTTPUnit, Ant, Jakarta Commons Understanding of XML-based technologies: DOM, SAX, XPATH, XSLT. Security: Encryption, Authentication, Key management. Familiarity with the entire development life cycle, including specification, design,development, documentation, quality assurance, release activities, and post-release support
