PHP Programmer - CMS Expert?
I need help with my content site - Wrestling101.com. It has been online since October 2003 and has over 9,000 pages of content. The site has been using a customised version of the CMS 'Miraserver' , however this has now been suspended. I want to make updates to the CMS now and am stuck. I’ve spoken to Miraserver and they have suggested finding a programmer to copy the site over to a new CMS or find someone to edit the Miraserver templates. The site does pretty much what I want at the moment...what I would like is: - Comments feature enabled so readers can respond to news reports and articles (like with our wordpress blog...I will need to moderate every comment though) . This actually came with a comments feature but since I had the customisations made it doesn’t seem to work. - To be able to add ‘most read new items this week/month and most read articles this week/month onto the content pages. - Maybe some other features you can suggest? I don’t know if it’s better to switch to a new CMS now...or carry on working with this one I have. One of my main concerns about switching would be the possibility of my urls changing on all of my content. I have plenty of backlinks directly to content which could all be lost. What would you advise is the best option? To be able to achieve what I want I will need to change my site templates...I am still in contact with my designer and they will redo this for me. Firstly I need to know what is achievable before I can request any changes. I’m looking for someone who has plenty of experience with content management systems and can help advise me along the way. The site is successful but I would like to take it to the next level. Here is an example of a content page at Wrestling 101: [obscured] 101/article/ruse/1158/ The above page is OK but I like the look of these other content pages: [obscured] articles/211729-first-article-wwe-in-the-now [obscured] 1/hi/sci/tech/8129536.stm [obscured] blogs/2009/07/03/ready-for-php-mysql-week-at-sitepoint/ I like the fact that they are interactive and also give options to readers to read further content on the right side. Currently I do have some links at the bottom but I am thinking of transferring these to an area on the right and having the comments feature under every article or news item. Our blogs area on Wrestling 101 is separate to the rest of the site...it would be good to maybe merge this all into one integrated CMS? As you can see I am thinking out loud here...basically the main goal is update the look of the site, allow more interaction for the readers and make more internal content links visible to readers so they stay on the site for longer... Any questions or concerns, let me know! Keywords: Web Programming, PHP, WordPress
