The incumbent will work as part of a team or independently to build and integrate interactive Web sites, applications, and services for both internal and public sites.   The role is to ‘make it work’, which means developing Web applications and testing them on various browsers, enhancing and modifying them as necessary to ensure the best experience for the user. Possessing an in-depth understanding of the software development lifecycle, the role is also is responsible for communicating project statuses, issues, and resolutions.     Responsibilities:   ·         Developing high quality JavaScript, CSS and HTML code for our new web application ·         Working closely with the Product Team to refine product requirements and contribute product ideas ·         Making design decisions in line with both technical and visual standards ·         Driving improvements in the areas of design, UI technology and process ·         Writing automated tests including web automation and JavaScript unit tests ·         Working with backend developers to integrate business logic and presentation ·         Guiding the future architectural direction of this new application   Roles, responsibilities and duties may evolve and change over time Qualifications:   ·         Recognized expert in JavaScript, including JQuery, JQuery UI and JQuery plug-ins, and frameworks such as Knockout, Backbone.js or similar ·         Significant experience interacting with REST API, JSON and AJAX ·         Expert in producing maintainable CSS for large applications, and in the usage of sprites ·         A successful track record and proven ability to deliver elegant web user interfaces using modular, reusable code ·         3 - 5 years of experience designing, developing and maintaining the front end of large-scale web applications ·         Commercial experience working with Scrum, XP or a similar Agile methodology ·         Experience developing for multiple browsers, including IE6 ·         Awareness of accessibility and W3C compliance ·         The ability to articulate pros and cons of various UI development tools and frameworks and make resulting trade off decisions ·         A genuine passion for web development in general; and elegance, usability and web standards in particular   Additional Assets: ·         Some knowledge of C# and ASP.NET ·         Experience of unit testing and BDD in JavaScript ·         Experience working with MVC websites and REST APIs     Qualified applicants should submit their resume to: Human Resources, Fax:  905-829-1332 or email: hr@pelmorex.com Please quote: “Web UI/UX Developer” in the subject line.
