Senior Database Engineer
Location: Atlanta Status: Contract Compensation: $60.00 per hour Education Level: Not Specified GREAT opportunity to work with Automotive Industry Leader in the Perimeter Area as a Sr. Database Engineer! This project will focus on database development (primarily PL/SQL) in the redesign of the company's website functionality. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Senior Database Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and implementing new technologies, as required, to support the technical capabilities at AutoTrader. To be successful in this role one must be able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment. This role requires good communication skills, both with team members and business contacts. In addition, the successful Senior Database Engineer must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Develops database procedures, triggers and SQL scripts for development teams. Develop, implement and maintain unit tests of programs. Participate in the design of new or changing programs. Participate in functional test planning and testing for the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s). Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s). Stay current with changes in the technical area of expertise. Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s). Work with the team to ensure the quality of the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s). Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and taking responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution. Develops and maintains highly available production systems with minimal direction. Resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data quickly and effectively. Manages security of database structures and corporate data held within databases. Maintains database changes from development, QA to production. Assists in the definition and implementation of database standards. Shares knowledge by effectively documenting work. Effectively communicates project status to senior support staff and keep business stakeholders informed of project status and all related issues. Maintains knowledge of database technologies and methodologies. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 7+ years experience in Oracle database technologies. Prior experience writing PL/SQL triggers and/or procedures. Ability to work with minimal direction, yet also able to work in team environment. Working knowledge of UNIX and Shell Scripts. (not critical). PREFERRED QUALIFICATION: Experience with high volume websites that use multi-tier architectures a significant plus. REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Application Requirements Client will not accept subcontractors You must be on a Full time basis.
