Datacom System Programmer (DBA)
Datacom Systems Programmer Organizational Objective/Purpose: Mainframe Infrastructure Services delivers efficient and effective full life-cycle infrastructure systems programming, application database administration, vendor product management and capacity and performance management. The MIS team covers architecture, design, configuration, testing, implementation, performance management and 24x7 production support across all MFTS test and production systems. Infrastructure product areas include; z/OS, DB2, Datacom, CICS, MQ, Network, Security, system and database tools, and automation, system monitoring and tuning, and capacity planning products. Mainframe Database Services delivers centralized systems programming and application database administration to support and enhance the clients business systems. The Datacom Systems Programmer will work within a team of other Datacom staff to support the clients Business Technology Groups and projects. In addition they create and modify scripts, programs, web sites, reports and other items to enhance the clients Datacom infrastructure. Brief Description of Role: Datacom Systems Programmer will provide technical leadership in support of the Mainframe Services – Database Services Datacom team. As a Datacom systems programmer you will install and maintain Datacom system software and related products. You’ll have responsibility for setting direction for Datacom configuration in a challenging environment including the migration to an Active/Active environment Responsibilities Include: Set direction for Datacom system software configuration Implement and Maintain Datacom and related products Replication Support Participate in a full production (24x7) on-call support Peer review and approve Datacom related application changes Required Qualifications: • 5+ years in Datacom technology performing system programmer related duties • Datacom Database Administration technical experience required running on z/OS in a complex and demanding environment • Experience using CA’s MSM software management tool. • Proven experience with database design, Replication support, application testing support, coding, Datacom utilities (e.g.; backup and recovery), performance design skills, production DB installation and optimization and production monitoring and tuning • REXX and ISPF script languages required. • Effective problem determination and resolution skills • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills with an ability to influence • Demonstrated change management skills • Ability to multi-task, work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment, and demonstrated ability to provide quality client support • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
