The CIHR Canadian HIV Trials Network (CTN) is an innovative partnership of clinical investigators, physicians, nurses, people living with HIV/AIDS, pharmaceutical manufacturers and others that facilitate HIV/AIDS research of the highest scientific and ethical standards in Canada. The CTN is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and jointly sponsored by the University of British Columbia and St. Paul's Hospital (Providence Health Care Society). The CTN’s National Centre, based in Vancouver, has an opening for a temporary full-time Human Resources/Administrative Assistant (1-year maternity leave coverage). Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the HR/Admin Assistant’s responsibilities include: assisting in any human resources related processes (hiring, termination, changes in employee status, employee dispute resolution); preparing various letters and other correspondence; collecting and organizing data for active studies receiving CTN funding; organizing meetings and teleconferences; researching viable solutions for streamlining administrative processes; reception desk relief; assisting in logistical set-up of CTN semi-annual meetings; and performing other tasks and projects as directed by the Chief Administrative Officer. The successful candidate will be an organized, approachable and outgoing team player with excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail. He or she would be familiar with Mac operating systems and be fully competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. An understanding of current legislation and fluency in French and English would be considered an asset.
