Perform IBM Cognos 10.x software installation and configuration on various platforms (Windows, Solaris, or Linux) with performance tuning and optimization using load balancing as well as distributed hardware architecture with understanding the underlying data sources. The position includes: Metrics Studio and TM1 applications which interface with BI reporting application Manage security (Cognos, database, Windows and UNIX) Perform Cognos back-up and upgrades and troubleshooting by understanding the various log messages Create and maintain installation documentation and architectural diagrams Report package deployments and PowerPlay cube deployments Data modeling and Cognos development experience is preferred Design and build prototype solutions based on initial business requirements Develop and implement interactive dashboards to help drive business decisions Under general direction; devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results Be competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications programming activities Perform expert-level engineering tasks associated with the analysis, design, and development of computer hardware, firmware, embedded systems, and/or operating systems Interface with different departments within the organization regarding new deployments Research and analyze data processing functions, methods, and procedures Monitor program execution for expected performance Modify, install, and prepare technical documentation for system software applications Monitor systems capacity and performance and plan and execute disaster recovery procedures Provide Tier-2 technical support You may customize purchased applications and assist in maintaining program libraries and technical manuals Provide high level written communications such as white papers, decision documents, or The successful Cognos Admin applicant will possess the following requirements (items are required unless noted otherwise): A B.S. degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills Additional Requirements: 5-7 years of experience working in Cognos Administration Strong SQL knowledge (including SQL design and tuning) Must have working with Cognos 10.x (this is required) Must have worked in a team environment You must have identified, escalated, and documented production impact issues for the environment to confirmed delivery for client and business notification Experience with Oracle database 9i or higher (10G or higher preferred) 5 years of experience working in Cognos BI Report Studio development are preferred Experience with Transformer and developing PowerPlay cubes is preferred Experience with Analysis Studio is preferred Experience with TM1 is preferred Experience with DB2 LUW, MF DB2 and SQL Server databases is preferred Experience with Cognos 10.x Dashboard and/or Scorecard development, support, and administration is preferred Optional: Experience with Java, HTML, CSS, AJAX, JavaScript or JavaScript frameworks is desirable System administration and monitoring
