Temporary Accountant\Auditor job duties: Prepares governmental type financial reports (indirect cost allocation plans), balance sheet, profit and loss statement, statement of cash flows, or other financial report ensuring accuracy, completeness, and conformance to Federal, State, GAAP, governmental reporting and procedural standards; Reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts; Supports internal/external audit activities including preparation of audit schedules; Assists in the review of processes and recommends controls or improvements to existing ones, improved process changes to achieve cost efficiencies and operating effectiveness where necessary, evaluating processes for continuous improvements; Drafts correspondence and reports resulting from internal review and risk assessment projects to evaluate business risks & recommend improvements to internal control structure to minimize risk; evaluate accuracy & reliability of financial information; evaluates agency processes for compliance with Ohio Revised & Administrative codes, existing operating procedures, standard business practices; reviews recommendations of external and internal auditors & follows up on remediations taken by divisions. Temporary Accountant\Auditor knowledge\skills needed: Audit & accounting standards and practices, risk assessment practices; Activity based costing, cost allocation methodologies, financial reporting, financial analysis methods and Generally Accepted Accounting principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards; *OAKS: General Ledger (GL), Accounts Receivable Module, Accounts Payable Module, Asset Management Module, HCM Module, COGNOS Reports, EPM Data Warehouse, GL reports; *Applicable state laws, regulations and guidance: Ohio Revised Code (ORC), Ohio Administrative Code (OAC), and DAS Directives; inventory management, fixed asset & depreciation accounting; Familiarity with *Federal OMB A-87 Cost Principles for State, Local and Indian Tribal Governments practices and procedures, *State of Ohio Financial reporting and Accounting Policies for Capital Assets and *State of Ohio Asset Management Policies and Procedures; Skill in operation of a personal computer; proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software; calculator, printer and other office equipment, familiarity with PeopleSoft or other ERP systems; Ability to define problems, use proper research methods in gathering and collecting data, interpret and apply a variety of technical material in books, journals and manuals (e.g., ORC, OAC, A-87, Capital Asset Policies, etc.); ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task without losing focus on meeting prioritized deadlines; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred, CPA or CMA a plus, 2-4 years financial reporting, accounting/auditing experience, solid understanding of governmental financial reporting requirements; Strong analytical, quantitative, and creative problem solving skills, strong written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills. *developed after employment
