Network/System Admin - Full time
Job title: Network/System Admin Location: San Francisco, CA Duration: Fulltime Responsibilities - Oversees the day-to-day operation of computer networks including hardware/software support, training, and special projects - Plans, designs and implements data connectivity for local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems - Interface with all teams / end-users to design and deliver enhancements. - Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. - Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures. - Contribute to and maintain system standards. - Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale. - Perform daily system monitoring and backups, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. - Provisioning and Deprovisioning of access across systems and applications. - Provide daily helpdesk support per request from the user base. Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve issues. - Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. - Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary. Requirements - Minimum of Bachelor (4-year) degree, in a relevant discipline - 5+ years experience in all areas of local and wide area networks management and administration including system configuration, setup, troubleshooting, planning, designing, implementation, and user support; experience installing and supporting Microsoft server technologies; experience supporting telecommunications equipment and virtual/wireless network appliances. - 2+ years experience in a startup environment where you’ve supported multiple systems/applications - Experience as a LINUX and Windows Server administrator - Experience supporting Mac and Windows machines in a shared environment - Experience administering an IP telephony system, Avaya preferred - Experience administering Cloud Applications a plus - Responsibilities include working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice in an on-call role - Potential travel up to 15% to support remote locations - Above all, has to be a good-natured person, with a positive attitude and lives a code of customer service - They are ultimately responsible for the corporate network, and all the assets secured behind the firewall. Ominous task, but must be up for that job - Can administer VPN, including Site to Site. - Understand WANs, and can manage layer 2/3 MPLS, a network with multiple VLANs/Subnets - Bonus stuff: Atlassian suite administration (tools like Jira), DMZ management, Linux administration, scripting - Really looking to be part of a fun environment
