TEKsystems has a client in the Topeka, KS area that is looking for a Senior Oracle DBA for a long term contract opportunity. Responsibilities The Database Administrator is the lead designer, creator, implementer, and maintainer of Database solutions. Candidates should have experience with both Oracle (10g / 11g) and SQL Server (2005 / 2008) with Oracle being the primary need. Installation / configuration of Oracle GRID (aka OEM) experience, it's a plus. Oracle RAC is also a plus. Other activities would include database upgrades, performance tuning & troubleshooting. Qualifications: - A diverse set of Database technologies to include, Database Management System backup and recovery, Database performance tuning, SQL analysis and tuning, Data Modeling, Data Security and Data Quality Assurance. - SME for most, if not all, Database technology utilized by the corporate and field end users. - Regarded as a Database support expert and understands the many user environments which would be supported. - An advanced knowledge and understanding of emerging Database technology. Must Haves: - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and at least seven years of system management experience within a specific technology. - Understanding of current technologies and best practices in the information technology industry. - Strong analytical/problem solving skills. - Ability to manage and meet deadlines. - Good interpersonal skills, with ability to work across functional lines, and at many levels. - Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills. - Ability to work on assigned tasks independently and assesses and executes with minimal direction. - Must be self-motivated, punctual, and resourceful. - Minimum of 7 years' experience with Oracle Database Management System (9i/10g/11gR2) - Experience with Oracle database administration on Unix/Linux/AIX platforms - Expert in Database backup and recovery (RMAN) best practices - Expert in Database Tuning and Performance - SQL Tuning Expert - Expert in Unix (AIX) Shell and PERL Scripting - Expert in Data Quality and Security - Experience with on call 24 x 7 production pager rotation duties - Experience with disaster recovery and planning - Experience with Managing Oracle software versions, installations, upgrades and patch installations - Familiarity with Client connectivity variants (OCI, ODBC, JDBC) - Comprehensive knowledge of various Oracle Database design techniques, including: - Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) - RMAN - Oracle Replication - Data Guard - Oracle Partitioning - Experience with SQL Server Database Management System (SQL Server 2000 and 2005) Preferred: - Master's degree preferred - Oracle Certification - Experience with Data Modeling - 3+ year's experience developing functional analysis and design specifications in an Information Technology environment - Demonstrate expertise in more than one Database Management System. - Experience with Database related technologies, such as: - Windows Operating System - Unix - z/OS - SAN Storage - IT Retail Experience - Experience with Retail Master Data Management. - Certification on a Database platform.
