Duration: 12 Months Contract Location: Houston, TX/ Zip Code: 98052 Compensation: Depend on Experience Role: SAP Basis Support Expert No of Positions: 2 Role Description: The SAP Basis Support Expert would need to have at least 5+ years of experience. We are looking for a SAP Basis Analyst who preferably has experience in supporting very large scale SAP systems, is able to work in global teams, and to support a multitude of SAP environments on different platforms. Basic Function of the Work Group The group supports multiple SAP R/3 installations for the client worldwide. This basis support includes software installations, upgrades, and support pack implementation, performance tuning and troubleshooting. This position requires some after-hours planned maintenance (also on weekends) and on-call support. The group also provides support activities for existing SAP installations. Responsibilities: - Monitoring of the systems leveraging CCMS based alerting. - Performance tuning via maintenance of buffer pools, configuration of logon groups, and work process distribution. - Problem analysis and solving. - Analysis of Early Watch Alerts. - Performance of system copies, etc. Systems supported range from several hundred users to large scale R/3 with 11.000 active users in a single instance/client. Skill Requirements: - Must speak, read and write English fluently. - Excellent communication skills. - Excellent problem solving skills. - Good analytical skills. - High energy and motivation. - Good team worker preferably having worked in distributed organizations before. - Besides good SAP Skills also good Windows and or UNIX know-how. Data Base skills are welcome, especially in DB2 and Oracle. The most competitive candidates would ideally have some of the following experiences: - Prior in-depth experience in technical ABAP4 programming, analysis of SAP source code, performance statistics and dumps. - Prior experience with large-scale, global SAP installations. - Prior experience with multiple R/3 implementation types (FI-CO, MM, PS, HR, CRM, BW implementations). - Prior database administrator experience on DB2 or Oracle DBMS platforms. - Prior experience with multiple releases of SAP R/3 (3.1, 4.0, 4.6). - Prior Basis support experience with SAP IS-Oil, IS-Retail or other industry solutions. - A high degree of working hour flexibility along with time-zone awareness and consideration for cultural differences is required. Computing Environment: - SAP 4.0, 4.6. - ECC 6.x. - SAP CRM 3.0, 4.0; ITS. - SAP NetWeaver 6.40, 7.0 (i.e., EP, XI/PI, BI, SolMan). - Operating Systems: W2K3, AIX and HP UNIX. - DBMS: DB2/zOS, Oracle. - Utilities: Columbus (UNIQ) Print and Fax, SMTP Fax and email, OpenText (IXOS) Archiving. - XP Workstation and remote server administration tools. - Job schedulers: UC4, Autosys, and Batch Control. Additional Comments: - Minimum experience is 5+ in SAP BASIS. - SAP security experience is required. - Experience in assessing SAP OSS notes and its impact to Tier-1 SAP systems. - This role does not have a Global presence at this point of time rather only work from Houston as part of 2 member team. - Experience in expanding the infrastructure to global regions (future plan). - Resources must be available for a face to face interview as part of selection process.
