Or client, a leading employer in the Columbus, OH area is seeking a qualified consultant for the following Contract to Hire Oracle DBA opportunity: This is a contract to hire position that will possibly transition to a leadership role PURPOSE of POSITION: Perform activities related to the day-to-day administration and maintenance of Oracle databases. Handle installations, upgrades, backups, and configuration of secure, high-performing/high-availability databases. Confers with appropriate managers regarding problems with and capabilities of Oracle databases. May architect and plan the database infrastructure using new technologies. Work under minimal supervision on complex projects and may assist less experienced peers. Wide latitude for independent judgment. Highly-skilled with extensive proficiency. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and six to nine years of experience. MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. 25%: Oracle Databases (11g/10g/9i) - Install, build, patch and tune. 2. 15%: Oracle Dataguard/Oracle Standby databases. 3. 15%: Oracle performance tuning. 4. 10%: RMAN or major backup packages. 5. 10%: Logical and Physical Database design. 6. 5%: Oracle Advanced Replication/ Real Application Clusters/VCS for Oracle. 7. 5%: SQL, PLSQL, Shell scripting. 8. 5%: Data warehousing/OLAP. Grid Control/9i OEM. 9. 5%: Provide 7x24x365 assistance as necessary in support of global, high-availability operations. 10. 5%: Provide accurate time tracking details and appropriate metrics for work performed.
