Job Overview: Part of building web applications for the game industry is being a part of the games, too. Build your knowledge of MMO games by going to local game conferences, playing our games, and working closely with the game community leaders to understand how to build the web apps they want and need. Job Responsibilities: - Build the web apps that drive one of the largest MMO game companies in the world. - Help bridge MMOgames and their websites to create exciting, cutting-edge applications by using your JavaScript and PHP skills to go to the next level of HTML5/CSS3 site development today. - In our web apps, you'll work with requirements focused on game concepts and themes rather than dry, business-oriented requirements. - Help us build jQuery plugins used across our suite of web apps that are accessed by gamers around the world. - Use your PHP background to build the web services needed by the web front end to give gamers live game statistics and player status. - You'll connect our apps to the best social network sites, working with APIs from companies like Facebook and Twitter. - Design and develop software components using JavaScript and PHP - Develop database-driven applications using Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and MongoDB - Maintain existing forum software, creating themes and plugins - Maintain existing software, including bug-fixing and general maintenance on websites and applications - Plan, document, and test all web-based and data-driven applications - Work with developers and engineers to create/modify development tools, documentation, and processes - Simultaneously manage multiple web projects with short timelines and aggressive implementation schedules - Assist in high-level design and architectural discussions and decisions - Develop prototypes of new technologies as needed - Identify and address performance bottlenecks - Provide timely status and updates to producers, project managers, and management Job Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required - Four (4) plus years PHP programming - Four (4) plus years raw JavaScript programming - Three (3) plus years SQL experience: queries, building databases, relational databases - Experience with PHP frameworks (CodeIgnitor, Cake, Zend) - Experience with JavaScript libraries and frameworks (jQuery, YUI, Backbone, Underscore, Node.js) - Web services experience, including XML RPC, SOAP, Rest - In-depth experience developing web-based applications - OOP principles/design patterns - Experience with build tools and automated testing (PHPUnit, JUnit, Ant, Phing) - Advanced knowledge of HTML and CSS - Experience with UNIX environments - Experience maintaining open source CMSs - Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN, Perforce) - Demonstrates excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills - Flexible and inventive in using different technologies and using creative problem-solving - Extremely detail-oriented and self-motivated - Able to communicate proactively and collaborate with teammates - Code samples and portfolio required Preferred Job Skills / Experience / Knowledge: - Mobile development skills (Sencha Touch, Titanium, native IOS, native Android) - Java/J2EE development - Shell scripting - SOLR/Lucene - vBulletin - Perl - Experience with analytic solutions (Google Analytics, Omniture, WebTrends) Discover all that's possible with Yoh.
