Database Administrator
This posting is for a Database Administrator I, this role supports multiple production applications and development efforts with primary focus being on the logical management, though some physical management is required. This position will require extensive database administration experience with a focus on both Oracle (10g or above) and Microsoft SQL (2008 and above), ability to design, install, maintain and monitor Oracle and MS-SQL databases on enterprise and dedicated UNIX and Windows servers, demonstrated experience with database tuning and experience with managing data encryption protocols. It is expected that all applicants will demonstrate an understanding and functional knowledge of industry standard database design methodologies as well as experience and understanding of formal SDLC processes and practices. Normal work in this role will require the ability to troubleshoot and resolve customer related issues in regard to database solutions, develop database design specifications, adhere to shop guidelines and standards, analyze customer requirements and assist in providing technical solutions, as well as working with all levels of staff and management in the customer departments. Successful candidates will be expected to provide on-call support as required, which could involve off-hours, weekends and holidays. Successful candidates must display a comprehensive knowledge of large scale database solutions in an enterprise setting, supporting a wide variety of milti-tiered hosted applications developed in both Java and Windows. Strong analytical and detailed communication/documentation skills are required as the candidate will be tasked with cataloging their work and processes. Successful candidates must be able to produce deliverables on schedule, provide updates to management and mentor staff to the work products delivered. The successful candidate will be responsible for interacting with a team of diverse technical resources to provide various technical solutions for GTA and their customers. Training & Experience: In order to be considered for the Database Administrator position you must meet the following Training and Experience: Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline or commensurate experience. Three years of experience with the development, maintenance and support of enterprise database solutions. Demonstrated experience in data-modeling. Three years of experience in physical and logical database design. Demonstrated experience in delivering software solutions. Strong analytical, written, and communication skills. Minimum Qualifications: In order to be considered for the Database Administrator position you must meet the following Minimum Qualifications: Three years of demonstrated production support of Oracle database systems on UNIX platform with an emphasis on production support of important, high-capacity database systems; significant experience in supporting application components. Three years of demonstrated experience as a development DBA on application development projects. Three years' experience utilizing Oracle database tools, and Erwin Data Modeling Tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills Completion of an associate's degree in programming/systems, computer science, mathematics or related field, which can be substituted with equivalent work experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with most aspects of JAVA/J2EE develpment methodogies, development and testing. Three years' experience interfacing with development done with Hibernate and Java. Familiarity with IBM's WebSphere Application Server (WAS) product. Experience in Oracle RAC solutions Demonstrated experience in developing, tuning and supporting stored procedures. Experience in developing/maintaining RUN BOOKS Experience in Microsoft SQL, DB2 database tools, and XML. Expertise with system disaster recovery planning and implementation. Expertise with evaluation and tuning database queries, stored procedures and views. Three or more years' experience with Middleware tools and utilities to support monitoring database migration and replication. Experience with Oracle 11g a plus. Demonstrated experience working in Georgia state government system Demonstrated experience with government Mainframe systems. Demonstrated experience in eliciting requirements and providing business requirements with all associated documents. Required Personal Characteristics: High integrity and honesty. Desire to gain knowledge through formal and informal training. Able to deal with unresolved situations, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events. Strong communications skills.
