Our client designs, develops, delivers, and supports real-time tactical command and control systems. They have delivered systems to all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and many of their Allied and Coalition partners. The systems and personnel have supported every major conflict since their founding in 1987. They're looking for a contract Technical Writer. This Tech Writer will be embedded in the Engineering department of an agile-based organization and will be a contributing member of the team. They will develop, write, and edit material for manuals and related to technical publications concerned with the installation, operation, and configuration of systems. Main Duties: * Develops, writes, and edits technical materials, such as manuals and related publications concerned with the installation, operation, and configuration of systems; online help reference information; and related information * Strong knowledge of Adobe FrameMaker * Maintains records and files of work and revisions. * Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate materials as appropriate * Reviews documentation for quality assurance purposes and edits materials as appropriate Qualifications: * Requires a Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Journalism, or a related field (preference given to those with a degree, but we will substitute years of experience * Requires 2 - 3 years of technical writing experience * Knowledge of technical writing principles, processes, techniques, and procedures * Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing * Ability to select work methods among approved routines and set priorities or sequencing of tasks * Skill in maintaining contact with others within the organization in order to obtain information * Experience FrameMaker or Word * Skill in organizing material and completing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
