Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Java Software Developer for a contract assignment with one of our premier financial industry clients in New York, NY. Responsibilities: * Write server-side code for Fixed Income and Equities messaging and data sourcing applications. You should also have a strong understanding of, and practical experience with, Java and service oriented development. * Build our DSL data sourcing platform, connectivity infrastructure using your strong background in distributed systems, messaging, network design, databases and large scale systems. * Participate in design and code reviews. Required Skills: * Extensive server side programming experience in Java (strong OO skills preferred). * A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, messaging infrastructure, and Java based frameworks. * Extensive design, programming and debugging experience of multi-threaded, high throughput, robust and scalable systems. * Experienced in large systems software design and development process, with good knowledge of Unix/Linux. * Coding skills in XSLT or other transformation tools, SQL, and/or knowledge of TCP/IP and network programming are a plus. * Fast learner, lots of enthusiasm and be able to work well in groups.
