this is a contract job We are seeking an experienced project manager/project analyst to assist us in managing and coordinating the complex effort involved with this initiative. The project manager will interface with multiple application development and infrastructure teams in Atlanta GA as well as with IT senior management. The project manager will also provide status updates to all levels of IT management. The location of the assignment is in the Atlanta office. The position is immediately available. Requirements: Experience in a large application development environment * Strong written and verbal skills * Proficient in use of Microsoft Project (Office Project and Project Server) tools * Strong attention to detail, cost control and scheduling * Ability to work with teams to create plans, analyze project plans, identify risks, develop contingencies, and resolve issues including proposing solutions * Ability to coordinate efforts and dependencies between multiple teams * Ability to facilitate large meetings with all management levels in attendance * Ability to develop management status reports * Experience using a structured System Development Life Cycle * Proficient in MS Office Suite * Strong interpersonal skills * 7 - 10 years of project management in a corporate environment * desired The requirement is about - Someone who has good experience as a PM in a large application development environment. Someone who knows technology conceptually and who can be engaging in discussions with users and technology people to make sure expectations are met as far as requirements. The PM does not have to make technology decisions. That responsibility belongs to the architects. By understanding technology and the SDLC process the PM will be able to have good grasp and control of tasks, deliverables, costs, time allocated for specific tasks. - The PM need to be proficient in MS project, and if possible have some knowledge of MS project server. The initiatives are large, and good control of granular details such as costs, milestones, scheduling, tasks, risk mitigation, etc. are required. Decisions are often made based on detailed information gathered from the usage of MS project. - The PM will be organized and have strong attention to detail. - Soft kills are very important as the PM is a facilitator, a communicator, a motivator and an organizer. The PM will have important interaction with Business Units and technology groups. - The PM will report to the Division Manager within the IT department. This project is about creating a large distributed application taking data from disparate sources and then creating functionality with the entire MS framework, rich front ends for user experience, as well as scalable and robust back end processes that support vast amount of data processing through the application. New concepts such as MS WPF, WCF, MDVM designs, patterns, as well as mobile application functionality will be used. This is a large and visible mission critical application being created from scratch.
