I'm writing my first book so I've never hired an editor before. I decided to select two editors and send them both the first 24 pages. This will allow me to see how they each edit, and it will also give the editors the opportunity to see how much work will be involved in the next 100 - 125 pages and better estimate what it will cost to edit the remaining pages. I hope you're willing to editing the first 25 pages for whatever fee you feel is fair and with whatever level of editing you believe I need.
