The data should be pulled from DB for that visualization so this db connection and data pull needs to be a part of this model. Since I am using devise, the data pull will be something like this current_user.where(:project_id => current_user.id).all This will give you something like project status: active, completed (inner circle), project type: required, optional, nice to have (outer layer), project name, project tasks.
