Senior Java Developer Full time or Contract San Mateo Our client is looking for a Senior Java Developer. Responsibilities: The engineering team is looking for a highly qualified, experienced and hands-on software engineer, to design and develop the next generation of our infrastructure components. These components provide standards-based session management for endpoints and systems used in Unified Communications, VOIP and video-conferencing. The infrastructure is also responsible for the centralized management, monitoring, reporting and administration of interactive video products. The ideal candidate is an energetic, proven leader with experience in the analysis, design, and implementation of object-oriented distributed systems and web-based applications. S/he will have a demonstrable track record in taking ownership of the design and development effort. S/he will be responsible for providing well structured API for internal and external consumers, whilst maintaining interoperability at the protocol level. This will entail working with our technical management, architects and designers, in order to evolve the software. Must-have (minimum) qualifications and skills: A B.S. degree (or higher) 10+ years of overall software development experience 6+ years of Java development experience (core language, J2SE and J2EE APIs) Strong experience in the design and development of multi-threaded, server-side applications Experience in the development of Servlets, JavaScript, AJAX Experience with XML, JSON, HTML, CSS Object oriented design and development Experience implementing and debugging one or more network protocols such as HTTP or SIP Some experience with database design, SQL and ORM frameworks such as Hibernate Experience with testing frameworks and toolkits such as jUnit, jMockit, Cactus, Cobertura Excellent verbal and written communication Nice-to-have (highly desirable) skills: Authentication, authorization and identity management Experience with network protocols and network management tools Client-server, multi-tiered and/ or distributed system architecture High availability, fault tolerant systems Experience in working with off-shore teams in Eastern Europe Some exposure to working with C++ could prove useful
