This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Linux / Unix Systems Administrator to join one of our extremely well established clients, based in Cambridge. You will be working amongst a closely-knit team and will primarily be responsible for the support and on-going maintenance of the organisation's existing Linux infrastructure. The initial length of this contract will be between 3 and 5 weeks with a potential for extension after the initial period. Key responsibilities will include the following: - Maintaining and supporting both the remote and the local Linux servers. - Process definition and documentation. - Account management and system hardening. - Developing a strong working relationship with the rest of the team in order to ensure the smooth creation and implementation of any Systems Administration problem which may arise. It is absolutely essential that candidates possess the following technical skills / experience: - Extensive commercial experience of working in a similar position with Linux-based systems / infrastructures. - Building and Patching of Linux Kernels. - Familiar with various flavours of Linux; Debian, RedHat, Centos, Ubuntu - Strong foundation knowledge of basic networking protocols - TCP/IP Please note that this is an extremely URGENT requirement - the successful candidate will be required to commence the role by Monday 27th August at the latest.
