Our direct client is looking for a Sr. Manager of Software Engineering for a 1 – 3 month Contract to hire in North Hollywood, CA The client will help with relocation. Sr. Manager of Software Engineering with deep experience developing and sustaining consumer-facing websites and mobile applications. The chosen candidate will deliver web, social and gaming experiences that embody the values of innovation and quality. In this role, you will drive hands-on architecture and development for key products aimed at moms and families. Specifically, you will ensure that appropriate solutions are found for core scenarios - such as social-graph integration, UGC, moderation, blogging, etc. - at the right scope, whether product-specific or at a portfolio-wide/platform level. This requires solid depth with a variety of web and mobile technologies, refined analytical skills, a leadership persona, a collaborative nature and the drive to get things done (and done right). It also requires highly developed people-management skills, as you will have several staff members reporting to you (directly and indirectly). Primary Responsibilities • Provide technology leadership for web and mobile products and systems. • Advocate for standards-based, cross-platform/cross-browser and mobile-friendly solutions. • Collaborate with teams as well as independently conceive of and propose opportunities to onboard new technology • Create prototypes to demonstrate the worthiness of solutions and validate proposed approaches • Assess viability and appeal of new technology concepts, including original IP • Break large, complex scenarios into sprint-sized deliverables that can be built, tested and shipped incrementally • Take on a mix of hands-on design/development (direct ownership of features and products) as well as consulting role across entire product portfolio; develop widely useful libraries • Write efficient, clean, fast, testable code • Mentor peers and junior staff • Develop and manage effective working relationships with other departments, Basic Qualifications • 10+ years experience in software development with exposure to a wide variety of technologies spanning mobile, social, web and gaming • World class skill with web and mobile technology and industry trends: iOS, Android, WebGL, HTML5 • World class skills with web services at scale: Java (or deep experience with other equivalent platform), SQL/noSQL, Node.js, etc. • Strategic thinker; perspective is not constrained to the parameters of the role • Excellent organizational savvy, including the ability to work well within cross-functional teams, generate buy-in from those teams, and manage both up and down within the organization • Superior written and verbal communication skills. Great presence, with ability to present with confidence to the executive level • Excellent project management skills; experience working in a very fast paced, deadline-oriented environment while maintaining acute attention to detail. • Comfort and flexibility working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and competing needs • Strong engineering background, experience with open-source technologies, cloud platforms and all tiers of distributed-system development • Experience working effectively with non-technical decision makers to explain and influence product and business decisions as a partner • Bachelor's degree required; CS/Engineering master's degree preferred This role is open for relocation For immediate consideration please submit your resume in Word format, along with daytime contact information.
