Position Background You will be the Network Engineer for our growing international network. With sites throughout the Continental United States, as well as a growing footprint in Asia, we have need for a strong Associate to support the network. In addition, you will provide support of our Desktop Support and Server Support teams, being the primary IT contact in our Charlotte office. Desktop Support and day-to-day site administration of the Charlotte office will be a requirement of the position. - Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar. - Systems: Windows, Cisco Systems, UNIX, Linux, Novell - Networking: Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, Latency, VoIP, QoS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, NHRP, ATM, PPP, MPLS Job Duties: 1. Install all new hardware, systems, and software for networks. 2. Install, configure, maintain network services, equipment and devices. 3. Supports administration of servers and server clusters. 4. Manages all system back-up and restore protocol. 5. Plans and supports network and computing infrastructure. 6. Perform troubleshooting analysis of servers, workstations and associated systems. 7. Documents network problems and resolution for future reference. 8. Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning. 9. Manage user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus, anti-spam. 10. Requires a thorough knowledge of networking essentials. 11. Oversee software and network security. 12. Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed. 13. Provide local support of the Office including Desktop Support, Access Control and Telephone support 14. Interact with both onshore and offshore teams to provide support of our global networks 15. Lead Network and Site specific Disaster Recovery Planning and execution. Provide feedback and input to the Global Disaster Recovery Plan Requirements - Hands-on experience implementing and administrating network devices, setting and maintaining policies and rights/security within a Windows Server environment: - Firewalls - Cisco, HP, and Dell network switches - Cisco routers - Cisco VPN - Wireless Access Points - HP, Dell server platforms - Windows Server 2000/2003 Active Directory - Symantec Back-Up Exec software and related backup tape drive - Desktop and laptop installation and problem resolution in a Windows XP environment - Previous responsibility for providing customer support - Demonstrable level of competence including: - A thorough understanding of the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking - A practical level of experience implementing and administrating common TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, etc. - Working knowledge of common network monitoring and security utilities - Troubleshooting focused on determining hardware vs. software, hardware vs. firmware, software vs. operating system, network vs. application/systems, and patterned vs. non-repeatable problems - 3+ years of network administration mandatory - Ability to prioritize and multitask - Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Excellent customer presentation skills - Bachelor's degree (preferably engineering related) - Current CCNA or CCNP strongly preferred - Ability to lift, carry, and move all components of PC workstations, servers, network equipment, peripherals, and other ancillary equipment Business Challenge Indecomm is migrating servers and in the middle of a huge Disaster Recovery project that they have slated to finish at the Middle to End of October. They need someone to help Migrate, configure and Implement the webservers so they can get started on the next three projects they have slated for this year (1. Server Consolidation, 2. Vitalizing, 3. Hosting Environment) EVP Having the opportunity to first hand be part of a Disaster Recovery implementation from start to finish. Having the breadth of working in all areas (SAN, Database, Windows, Network, Etc.) Also, they have a very relaxed work environment.
