Kforce is seeking an SQL Database Administrator for a Rosemead, California client. Responsibilities: Maintain and monitor database backup and restore processes Coordinate with the Network Administer and Developers to ensure data security and availability and meet the necessity of database refresh in development / staging environment Understand the effects of different replication methodologies to select and configure the settings while maintaining the stability of the data stream Own database performance tuning analysis and optimization Troubleshoot vendor and in-house applications Communicate and maintain SQL Server concepts and best practices including SSAS and SSRS Plan, design, and implement the database capacity, physical and logical modeling, and security practices for every phase of major .NET application development Administer varieties of SQL Server jobs and proactively monitor and optimize any data replication / ETL processes Review the design and deployment of data objects from development / staging to production Act as the first technical contact for any query / database performance issues and assist developers and business power users in query requests and enhancements Understand the implications of various replication methodologies and SQL Server Security best practices including SSAS and SSRS Execute and enforce operational and administrative tasks with a focus on maintaining the stability of the data stream Assist in deployment of .NET applications, SSIS packages, SSRS-RDL, and SSAS cubes Ensure data objects naming convention and enforce data integrity by building data cleansing rules and refining the ETL processes The successful DBA applicant will possess the following requirements (items are required unless noted otherwise): An MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business MCITP: Database Administrator and/or MCTS Database Specialist on SQL Server 2005 (MCTS: SQL Server 2005) or equivalent 5+ years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator with at least 3 years of working directly with SQL Server are required 3+ years of experience with T-SQL production 2+ years of experience with Client Server or .NET programming background Expertise in creating sophisticated SSIS from scratch Exposure in 3rd party back-up and performance diagnosis and monitoring tools Hands-on technical lead role experience in the migration of SQL 2000 to 2005 / 2008 along with the installation of SQL 2005 / 2008 and configuration of SQL Server with best practices of storage performance Hands-on experience in transactional, log-shipping, and mirroring replication In-depth knowledge of indexing strategy to include solid T-SQL skills and strong understanding of SQL 2005 / 2008 System View Ability to automate routine processes with any combination of delivered tools and scripting languages (VB, Java, and PowerShell) under strict time and resource constraints SSRS and SSAS are bonus skills The focus of this position is on high ROI strategic projects
