My Hampshire based client, a specialist within the automotive and speed monitoring industry is currently seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer for an initial 3 month contract to start ASAP. This contract will require the successful engineer to have their own copy of Solidworks 2012 for use on the duration of the project. The opportunity will require the individual to be capable of working on their own initiative, with an eye for detail and accuracy. The individual will possess their own Solidworks 2012 licence and be prepared to use their licence on a PC provided by the client, for the duration of the contract. This position will be predominately working on a new project, but they may also be required to assist on updates to existing products which will require using AutoCAD LT The successful applicant will be proficient in the following disciplines: - o Possess a good knowledge of Sheet Metalwork design, 19" Racking and the design of enclosures for the packaging of electronic assemblies. Therefore, a good knowledge of working with electronic assemblies is essential. o Provide mechanical design from initial layout to manufacturing drawings for new product development, liaising with hardware engineers and production engineers. o Generate production quality 2D & 3D drawing sets including mechanical detail drawings, cable assembly drawings, parts lists and assembly drawings. o Prepare information for detail design reviews o Liaise with manufacturing sub-contractors. o Assist in the assembly of prototype assemblies, feeding back any necessary improvements into the mechanical design. o Liaise with Production Engineering to introduce the product into manufacture. This will include the preparation of ECRs and ECOs. o Check own & others work for standards & accuracy. o Be qualified to a minimum level of HNC Mechanical. o Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) o AutoCAD LT 2012 - would be an advantage. o Solidworks 2012 - it is essential the applicant is highly proficient in the following areas of this design package:- the generation of 3D designs and assemblies, Sheet Metal, producing 2D manufacturing detail drawings & generating drawing border templates.
