Associate Facilities Technician (Temporary to Hire) Lenoir, NC This is a temporary role offered through Adecco. The role: Associate Facilities Technician (Temporary to Hire) The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. Facilities Technicians on this team operate, monitor and support all facilities activity at Google's data centers. You take ownership of the operation and maintenance of water pumps and treatment systems, HVAC, UPS, generators, electrical distribution and control and monitoring Systems. You're at the forefront of best-in-class environmental practices. You bring the ideas of our Data Center Engineers to life and develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving efficiencies. You ensure that problems are identified and repaired quickly, that contractors deliver quality services and preventive maintenance, and that safety measures are being performed. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you respond to data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures. You help inspect, maintain and repair various datacenter systems (e.g., piping, cooling, and non-critical electrical system components). You provide daily assistance to senior technicians as you read blueprints/schematics, conduct tours of systems and assess their working order. As an Associate Facilities Technician you will operate, monitor, and support data centers. Working under the direction of the Data Center Facilities Manager, you will interact with support teams at Google headquarters and with local contractors and vendors. You must ensure that problems are identified and repaired quickly, that contractors deliver quality services, and that internal customer demands are met. A good technician develops creative approaches to keep operational costs to a minimum, improve efficiency, and implement new strategies. Responsibilities: * Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks. * Assist with system replacement and commissioning. * Monitor critical data center equipment. * Escalate technical issues to supervisors. Minimum qualifications: * Associate's Degree, trade school certification. In lieu of education, 2 years relevant experiences in in relevant technical field (Mechanical, HVAC, Electrical, Controls Systems, Water Treatment, or Diesel Engine Operation and Maintenance). Preferred qualifications: * Experience reading and interpreting technical documents and schematics. * Ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on these systems. * Ability to learn quickly and address issues as they arise during normal working hours or when on-call. * Ability to work shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
