Payroll Tax Accountant
Description: Payroll Tax Accountant reports to the Payroll Tax Facilitator. The accountant will assist, monitor, and review the third-party payroll service delivery tax team to ensure accurate reporting and issuance of payroll tax payments. - Monthly/Quarterly/Annual review of federal, multi-state, multi-local withholding and unemployment tax filings prepared by vendor to ensure accuracy and compliance - Review tax law and regulation changes along with testing results provided by vendor against BSI Tax Update Bulletins to ensure taxes remain in compliance. - Coordinate with the vendor and the federal, state, and local tax agencies to research and resolve open tax issues and notices, including internal/external audits. - Coordinate with the vendor in the special handling of special payroll tax activity including but not limited to relocation expenses, stock options, third party sick, and workers compensation repayments. - Review and analysis of employee data related to withholding and reportable wages to verify integrity of employee records. - Assist with year-end W2 and W2C processing and coordination - Assist with payroll tax liability general ledger reconciliation as needed. - Assist with coordinating of company divestures, acquisitions, and splits as required. Requirements: - Minimum of 5 years multi-state payroll tax experience - Ability to analyze and interpret changes to tax law and regulation - Strong SAP experience - Strong Excel skills - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail - Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing - Ability to analyze financial data - Ability for work independently minimal guidance - Ability to exercise sound judgment skills Preferred: - Experience working with a third party payroll vendor SKILLS Synectics is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
